One-way mouthpieces are used instead of a normal mouthpiece and prevent inhalation so contaminants and particles cannot be drawn back towards the patient. In turn, these mouthpieces prevent inspiratory testing. You should still sterilise the flow sensor on a regular basis.

Spirometer mouthpieces are available with or without a one-way valve and can be used with an optional anti-bacterial/ viral filter. Your choice of mouthpiece will decide the level of protection, for patient and machine. All mouthpieces and filters are a universal fit for all devices.
